Many a times I hear people say "I really wana be rich" or "God give me this or that". I actually have no problem with people wanting good things or praying to God for it, the issue I have with most people is that they choose not to follow the process required in acquiring these things that they desire and hope that somehow God will do a miracle in their life or someone will drop off a suitcase of cash at their door step. I’m not saying that God can’t do miracles; I’m actually a firm believer in signs and wonders of God. However, I also believe in following the required processes necessary for acquiring whatever you want.
A friend of mine once said this to me "Bro, this year I must buy a car" he clearly had no job, no money and no solid strategy of getting a good paying job. But he was praying and believing God for a job and money. This I think is just a sad tragedy. My advice to him was this:
“First you need to increase your income by either getting a job/better job or do a short term investment. You'll stand a better chance of getting a better paying job if you can demonstrate that you have the skill set to effectively perform in such improved job. This is usually judged by the certificates you have or your previous job position or your previous employer, so you may need to take some time out for some personal career development and learn a new skill that will help you secure that better paying job."
I’m sure you all agree that is a really sensible and logical advice, its basic common sense. You will be surprised how many people still refuse to follow such processes and believe they can still be successful. There is no short cut to success!
My personal view to achieving success is this:
If you are really knowledgeable and you understand the dynamics of life and human beings to a good extent then you will find it relatively easier to achieve success. I say this because you will ensure that every joule of energy you use to work returns the maximum possible profit. People hawking things on the streets of Lagos work 100 times harder than Bill gates does and make much less money. This is because their profit to work ratio is low, this can be increased by either taking more risk (maybe taking a loan to rent a shop and buy more stuff) or increasing their knowledge (learning a skill and becoming self employed).

In my own view, success can be achieved by the combination of these factors, RISK, HARD WORK, and KNOWLEDGE
As an illustration,
- A successful armed robber’s job involves more risk, less knowledge and less hard work.
- Bill gates job involves less risk more knowledge and moderate hard work
- Successful street hawker’s jobs involves: less knowledge, less risk and alot of hard work.
My point is thus: You all have a process to follow if you wana be successful regardless of the path to success you choose. As for me I’ll rather choose the path of less hard work, more knowledge and medium risk, but urs may be different.
In conclusion, I encourage all of you to think deeply about the kind of life you want for yourself and your family, find out what it takes to achieve it, and follow the required process.
May God's grace and favor be abundant on all your lives.
Amen.
